Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about lista-minecraft.pl
Basics
What is lista-minecraft.pl and how does it work?
lista-minecraft.pl is an open game server catalog with advanced ranking system. Unlike closed directories:
- Anyone can add a server without registration or moderation
- Players vote for favorite servers building community-driven rankings
- System automatically monitors server status every 15-30 minutes
- We collect detailed statistics: player count, activity charts, online history
- Verified owners can edit descriptions, add links and activate reward system
Is ranking based solely on votes?
Ranking algorithm considers three main factors:
- Vote count - primary ranking factor (votes valid for 30 days)
- Server status - online
This ensures most active and popular servers stay on top.
How often does the system update server data?
All servers have automatic background updates:
- Active servers: checked every 15-30 minutes
- Long offline: checked every few hours (resource optimization)
- Monitored data: online/offline status, player count, MOTD, server icon
System works fully automatically - no manual refresh needed.
Adding and Managing Servers
How quickly can I add a server?
Adding process takes literally 30 seconds:
- Click the plus icon button in top navigation
- Enter server address in
host:portformat (e.g.play.example.com:25565) - Done! System automatically fetches data within minutes
You don't need to:
- Create an account (optional)
- Wait for moderation
- Be the server owner
How to add Discord, website and shop to server profile?
Owner verification required:
- Log in to the site (Discord/account)
- Go to your server page
- Click Claim and verify per instructions
- After verification, Edit button appears
- Fill in links to Discord, website, shop
Server icon doesn't update - how to fix?
Technical requirements for icon:
- File name:
server-icon.png - Dimensions: exactly 64x64 pixels
- Format: PNG (not JPG!)
- Location: server root directory (next to server.properties)
After adding icon:
- Restart server
- Wait up to 24h for automatic update
- If doesn't work - check dimensions and file name
How to verify server ownership via server name pattern?
The server name pattern is the easiest and fastest verification method:
- Open the server admin panel or config file (e.g.
server.properties) - Temporarily change the server name (
motd) to the pattern:<list-domain>#<your-username>(e.g.mc-list.net#john123) - Save the changes and restart the server (or reload config)
- Go to your server page, click Owner Verification and select Server Name Pattern
- After successful verification you can restore the original server name
Advantages of this method:
- Easiest and fastest — no DNS knowledge required
- Works with any server (both IP address and domain)
- Verification is instant
Tip: The name change is temporary — after verification you can restore your original server name.
Technical Issues
How to verify server ownership using DNS SRV record?
Alternative verification method for advanced users:
- Ensure your server uses a domain name (not IP address)
- Create an SRV record in your DNS settings:
- Type:
SRV - Service:
_minecraft._tcp(or other game) - Target: your server hostname
- Port: your server port
- Type:
- Create a TXT record for verification (same pattern as name verification):
- Name:
<server-uuid>.<your-domain> - Value:
<list-domain>#<your-username>(e.g.lista-minecraft.pl#john123)
- Name:
- Wait 5-30 minutes for DNS propagation
- Go to your server page and choose DNS SRV Record verification method
Advantages of SRV verification:
- No need to change server name
- More professional and permanent
- Works with custom domains
Requirements: Domain management access and basic DNS knowledge
My server shows offline but it's running - what to do?
Most common causes and solutions:
1. Firewall blocks monitoring
Our system pings servers from dedicated IP. Check if firewall/anti-bot plugin doesn't block connections. You may need to whitelist.
2. Incorrect port
Make sure you entered correct server port. Default: 25565
3. SRV record
If using SRV record (e.g. _minecraft._tcp.example.com), leave default port 25565 in form.
Still doesn't work? Write to us with details - we'll help diagnose the problem.
Can I change server address after adding?
What you can change:
- Server port - edit through owner panel
- Description, links, additional information
What you can't change yourself:
- IP address / main domain
If you really need to change host (e.g. hosting change), write to us - we'll review case individually after verification.
Server inactive for a month - what happens?
Automatic hiding of inactive servers:
- Servers offline over 1 month are hidden from main list and pagination
- Not deleted! All data, votes and statistics remain
- Still searchable through search engine
- After restarting server automatically returns to main list
- Update happens during next check cycle
This keeps catalog clean and shows only actively running servers, but preserves ability to find inactive ones.
Why are some hostings blocked?
We block free hostings and DDNS domains because:
- Mass spam of servers running 2-3 days
- Low quality infrastructure (lag, crashes)
- Maintaining high catalog standard
- Protecting players from non-functioning projects
Solution: Use paid hosting or own domain. This shows players that server is run seriously.
Voting System
Voting limit - how many times per day?
Voting rules:
- 1 vote per server per 24 hours
- Vote is active for 30 days
- After 30 days vote automatically expires
- You can vote on unlimited number of different servers
System tracks voter activity preventing fraud and multi-accounts.
Vote reward system - how does it work?
For players:
- Servers with active reward system have special icon
- After voting reward goes automatically to you in-game
- Reward type set by server administrator (items, money, ranks)
For server owners:
- Integrate server through dedicated plugin
- Configure rewards in configuration file
- System automatically detects votes and distributes rewards
Didn't receive reward? This is configuration issue on server side - contact its administrator.
Can I post multiple reviews for one server?
No, each user can post only one review per server. The review system is designed to ensure honest and fair ratings:
- One review per user per server - this prevents spam and rating manipulation
- You can edit your review once every 30 days - if your opinion about the server changes, you can update your rating and text, but not more often than once per month
- Each review requires a star rating (1-5) - this helps other players quickly assess server quality
- We use an advanced algorithm that prevents situations where a server with 1 review of 5★ ranks higher than a server with 100 reviews of 4.8★
Your review is valuable! It helps other players find the best servers and motivates owners to improve quality. Remember, you can only edit your review once every 30 days.
